Reynaldo Herrera

Jessica Herrera Rodriguez serves as one of PursuitSAFETY's media representatives. She has been a member of the organization since 2011.

Jessica's father, Reynaldo Herrera, was killed May 26, 2010, in Edinburg, Texas, when his four-door Ford Contour was struck by a fleeing driver. An officer gave chase because the driver had tinted windows.

Jessica Talks About Her Dad
My dad was a hard working, honest living 55-year-old man. He raised 7 children with my mother where we lived a very humble life in a small city called Edinburg, TX. My father was an awesome grandfather to all of his grandchildren. He loved them dearly. He was a good provider for my mother and a jack of all trades. He used his expertise in helping people even when they had no money for payment. He was my DADDY.

Jessica is very comfortable talking to people about pursuit fatalities. She understands how not only this tragic event can change a person's life forever in having their loved one killed or injured, but how there needs to be a voice fighting for those who no longer have a voice.

"I am a wife and a mother to 3 awesome boys," Jessica said, "I was a young mom who discovered very quickly life was hard and there was no easy way out of anything without working hard for it. My husband and children have had to see me go through my struggles with life after losing my father. If it were not for them I would probably be in a dark place without recovery. I have always found it more rewarding in helping people so much that I have loved working in the medical field for the last 15 years. I have enjoyed for 11 years working in clinical research in various therapeutic areas."

Jessica Herrera Rodriguez believes in fighting for public safety citing that "the way my dad was prematurely taken from my family and me has caused us so much grief. It left us with so many unanswered questions and scenarios of how a small traffic stop could have gone so wrong.

These questions now lead me to want to try and do more to help become a solution to a big problem I was so ignorant to. Death by police chases is just something I never even imagined. I was so ignorant to the percentages of deaths and the increase of this problem until it happened to my own family.

In my area of South Texas where we live so close to the border we are not only having chases being brought on by illegal smuggling of undocumented people but also now with the Mexican cartel war with drugs. I want to help bring awareness, and try to help find a solution even if it is by encouraging and applauding the agencies who DARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!"
